Whitehead & Associates had its beginning serving the electric utility market. Our founder’s father was a senior executive at a utility and our founder himself was employed by two major equipment manufacturers for the utility industry before starting our company in 1968.

From the beginning, we have been honored to represent two of the most successful and respected manufacturers in the utility industry; S & C Electric Company and Howard Industries. From that foundation we have continued to expand our representation to include many highly regarded manufacturers of utility equipment.

Our professional utility sales staff has many years experience serving the utility market. We have personnel dedicated to the public power market as well as to the investor-owned market. In our Atlanta office we have a P.E. on staff who was an engineer with a large utility for several years. We understand the needs of electric utilities to have reliable equipment, properly selected for the job at hand, and backed up by knowledgeable support personnel.

As the utility market has changed we have changed with it. From the years when distribution automation consisted of a lineman standing by at. a switch waiting for someone to tell him over the radio to pull the handle, we now can provide equipment to totally automate and re-configure an entire distribution system. With our experience and that of our factory technical resources, we have the capability to provide highly sophisticated switching and control devices for a wide variety of transmission, substation and distribution applications. In one form or another, we can almost supply everything from the GSU to the distribution transformer at the point of service.
