Commitment to Community
Making a difference. One volunteer at a time.
Mentoring youth and young adults. Helping the homeless. Assisting children to read. Finding a loving and safe home for animals. Supporting teachers and students at local schools. Painting homes for those in need. These are just a few ways that our employees have volunteered to give back to the community. We have found that our employees are eager to make a difference, but the lack of time in their schedules can often be a difficult obstacle to overcome. Recognizing this, Whitehead created Volunteer Time Off (VTO) for its employees.
The purpose of this big-hearted program is to support activities that enhance and serve communities in which Whitehead employees live and work and even extends to a global level. We believe that one of the greatest gifts you can give is your time. It can be difficult for employees to balance work and personal or family demands. VTO gives employees a chance to do something that makes the world a better place – during their work day. As part of our effort to support community, employees can volunteer up to 40 hours of their work time at one – or many – charitable organizations. At Whitehead, we recognize that participating in these types of activities enriches the lives of our employees and those served.
